TITLE: Bylaw Supervisor

The District of Tofino is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Bylaw Supervisor. Reporting to the Manager of Protective Services, the Supervisor of Bylaw Supervisor is responsible for the day to day supervision of the Bylaw Enforcement Officers, Business License Inspector and overseeing the enforcement of the District regulatory bylaws, approving and issuing licenses and permits, and liaising with various government agencies. Work involves providing information and assistance to the public, carrying out patrols and investigations, gathering evidence, conducting inspections, and preparing all documentation necessary for the effective enforcement of District regulatory bylaws. The Supervisor of Bylaw Enforcement and Business Licensing also carry out routine office duties to maintain departmental files and records, scheduling and training.

Hours of Work and Salary: This full time position begins Monday July 13, 2020 and involves 8 hour shifts, 40 hours per week between 6:00 am to 1:00 am, Monday to Sunday. Based on operational needs, Bylaw Enforcement Officers must be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and weekends. The wage is $28.28 per hour. After successful completion of a 60 day probation period the base wage increases to $31.42 per hour.
This position offers a full range of benefits, including a pension plan, and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement between and the District of Tofino and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 118.
