For Immediate Release
Community Hall Construction
The District of Tofino has commenced renovations at the Community Hall. This renovation is expected to be completed by April 2018.
The District was a recipient of a Canada 150 – Community Infrastructure Program grant in the amount of $175,000 which partially funds the total project cost of $558,740. The renovations will include an enclosed entry way, large storage area and a 750 square foot multi-purpose room. These improvements will expand programming opportunities by enabling concurrent uses to take place in the facility and for supplies and equipment to be safely stored.
Regular programming will not be interrupted during construction. Community Hall users are being asked to enter the hall through the back doors located at the north side of the building.
For safety, fencing is set up around the area under construction. This will affect parking directly in front of the Community Hall. Additional parking is available in the upper parking area, near the Tonquin Trail entrance.
The District appreciates the community’s patience and will keep the public updated on the planned work schedule via the District’s website (www.tofino.ca), Twitter (@TofinoCA), Facebook (search “District of Tofino”), and the District’s email list.
