Job Posting - Accounting Clerk 1 (Temporary Term - 4 Months)
Position: Reporting to the Director of Financial Services, the Accounting Clerk I is responsible for payroll, review of accounts payable and receivable, monthly reconciliations and reporting, budget and audit preparations. This position provides support to the front office, Community Children’s Center and the Information Technology function.
The preferred candidate has a post-secondary degree including completion of a recognized Level 1 accounting course and has a minimum of 2 years related work experience in a municipal government setting. The candidate must be detail oriented, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and maintain a high level of accuracy. Experience working in accounting or bookkeeping is preferred.
This temporary full-time position is being posted as a result of a leave of absence. The temporary term of this position is four (4) months. The position will begin as soon as possible after the closing date.
Hours of Work & Salary: This is a unionized position (CUPE Local 118) based on a 37.5 hour work week with an hourly wage, after probation of $29.56. A 60 day probationary period will apply, during which time the hourly wage is $26.60 plus 14.8% in lieu of statutory holidays and benefits. This position is subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between CUPE Local 118 and the District of Tofino.
