TITLE: Recreation Programmer 1                              

DEPARTMENT: Community Sustainability    

CLOSING DATE: Friday, October 9th, 2020 at 4:00pm.       

Position: The District of Tofino is seeking a qualified individual to fill a permanent full-time position as the Recreation Programmer 1 in the Community Sustainability Department.

Reporting to the Manager of Community Sustainability, the Recreation Programmer 1 will perform duties related to the provision of recreational services to the residents of Tofino. The Recreation Programmer 1 will coordinate, promote and implement recreational programs and special events for a diverse variety of programs in sport, outdoor, social, arts and cultural areas. The Recreation Programmer 1 liaises with Recreation Commission and other community organizations to coordinate service delivery.

The preferred candidate will have post-secondary education in a related field and previous work experience in a recreation position. Preference will be given to those with a valid class 4 BC Driver’s License and current first aid training.

Hours of Work & Salary:

This is a unionized position (CUPE Local 118) based on a 37.5 hour work week with an hourly wage, after probation of $26.36. A 60 working day probationary period will apply, during which the hourly wage is $23.73. This position offers a full range of benefits, including a pension plan, and is subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between CUPE Local 118 and the District of Tofino.
