Tofino Multi Use Path (MUP) Improvements
Work Towards a Smoother Ride Begins the Week of June 8th for Approximately 3 Weeks
The District of Tofino is continuing to work towards improving the safety and condition of Tofino’s Multi-Use Path (MUP). Construction will begin during the week of June 8th on a section of the MUP damaged by tree roots. The work involves the complete replacement of approximately 300 lineal metres of MUP to an increased paved width of 3 metres to ensure accessibility, safety, and a more ejoyable ride, roll or stroll. Root guards will be installed to prevent further damage. The end result will be a smoother, wider and safer MUP at this location.
Addresses most affected by construction are:
1150 Pacific Rim Highway (corner of Hellesen Drive) to 1188 Pacific Rim Highway (“MacKenzie Creek”)
This project is funded by Tofino’s participation in the BC Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) program.
The work is anticipated to take approximately 3 weeks. To ensure the public's safety, the MUP at this location will be closed to pedestrian and cycling traffic while construction is underway, Monday to Friday, 7:30-5:00 pm. The community’s patience and cooperation during construction is appreciated as we more torward offering an easier, more accessible commute on the MUP.
