Temporary Beach Closures
Tofno Beaches Temporarily Closed while Wind Warning and Extreme Wave Hazard in Effect
Notice: The District of Tofino is temporarily closing beach accesses due to strong winds and king tides compounding the wave hazard. Large ocean swells reaching upward of 6 metres are predicted along with a high tide of up to 4 metres occurring at mid-day.
The most dangerous periods of the day are at high tide and until strong winds subside.
Please respect all temporary closures and follow directions on any associated postings.
- Residents and visitors are advised to avoid all water activities.
- Shoreline users are advised to stay well back from the water’s edge especially along rocky shorelines and islands.
Crews will continue to monitor conditions and will reassess after high tides have subsided.
Note: Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is also temporarily closing beach accesses and some trails to ensure visitor safety. Please obey signage and exercise caution.
