Now Selling a Price-Restricted, Resident-Restricted Unit in the Gateway Development
The District of Tofino is selling a one bedroom (495 sq ft) unit in the Gateway Development, #101-625 Gibson Street, for $195,000 as a Price-Restricted, Resident-Restricted Purchase Lottery with the proceeds of sale transferred to the Tofino Housing Corporation to support the development of affordable housing on DL114.
Full details on the unit, eligibility, application, lottery and purchase process can be found on the THC's website at www.tofinohousingcorp.ca/housing-for-sale.
- Applications are due no later than November 13th, 2020 at the Municipal Hall.
- Qualifying applications will be assigned an application number. If the qualifying applicant was a Purchase Lottery participant in the Sea Otter sale in 2018, their application will get assigned two application numbers.
- The Purchase Lottery Draw will occur on November 16th.
- The winning applicant will get an opportunity to complete an Offer by November 23rd, 2020. If an Offer is not completed by November 23rd, the applicant who was 2nd in the Lottery will get a chance to present an Offer the next week, and so on down the Lottery list.

Other Tofino Housing Corporation Project Updates
A planned fall construction start for the 14 units of below market rental housing was not possible as Catalyst Community Developments Society was delayed by the CMHC Co-Investment funding and financing processes. All parties expect that to be complete in time for a February 1st construction start. Once that date is confirmed we will make further announcements.
The rezoning for 2 apartment lots and 3 duplex lots with suites is now complete and the THC is working with the District of Tofino to complete the subdivision process. Catalyst Community Developments Society is waiting for an announcement from the BC Housing Community Housing Fund related to the construction of the first 35 unit apartment building (Phase 1) and the second 37 unit apartment building (Phase 2). We expect news from BC Housing Housing after the Provincial election. We are hopeful that construction will start on the first apartment building in 2021. The timing on the sale of a duplex lot for market housing and the other 4 half-duplexes as Price Restricted Resident Restricted housing is dependent on the timing of the first apartment building construction and thus those homes won't be ready until at least 2022.
