The District of Tofino is pleased to announce Janice Lore as the new Poet Laureate for the term 2024-2026.

Janice, a long-time resident of Tofino, brings her lifelong love of poetry and theatre to her role. She has been writing poetry, plays, and stories since she was seven years old. Janice is a member of the Clayoquot Writers Group, the Federation of British Columbia Writers, and an associate member of the League of Canadian Poets. Her work has appeared in anthologies, literary magazines, and on CBC Radio.

As Tofino’s Poet Laureate, Janice will perform poetry and facilitate community events celebrating local poets and other creatives.

The District of Tofino looks forward to the contributions Janice will bring to the community through her role as Poet Laureate.
