Life at the end of the road

The community of Tofino is situated in Tla-o-qui-aht territory at the tip of the Esowista Peninsula in Clayoquot Sound on Vancouver Island’s west coast, and is home to approximately 1,932 residents (2016 Census).

Once a quiet coastal town, Tofino is now a popular tourist destination that attracts visitors from around the world. Tourists and residents alike come to enjoy the natural beauty and participate in activities ranging from surfing and kayaking, to fishing and storm watching.

Nuu-chah-nulth culture, pristine wilderness and our eclectic community of locals carry Tofino’s charm and warmth through the rainier months, making life at the end of the road a special and unforgettable experience for all.

Our Community Vision

Be Bear Smart

Bears that become highly food-conditioned and habituated to humans are often destroyed because of concerns for human safety. Early reporting of a bear in a neighbourhood helps address the underlying issues before it becomes a problem.

Single-Use Plastics
