Stage 1 Water Conservation is implemented between May 1 and October 1 every year unless other stages take effect in the interim. Tofino’s tap water is collected with gratitude from the rainforests protected by Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks in the Hahuulthii of the Tla-o-qui-aht Ha'wiih.

During Stage 1:

Watering of lawns, gardens, trees and landscaped areas is restricted to use of a hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off mechanism, hand-held canister, or use of a sprinkler or a drip irrigation system:

• Odd numbered civic addresses may water on Monday and Thursday between the hours of 6 AM to 9 AM and 7 PM to 10 PM; and
• Even numbered civic addresses may water on Tuesday and Friday between the hours of 6 AM to 9 AM and 7 PM to 10 PM

All other outdoor uses of water may only be undertaken with the use of containers or a hand-held hose with an automatic shut-off mechanism.
