Provincial Notice: Property Owners Must Maintain Driveway Culverts on BC Highways
With strong storms occurring in Tofino while roadway upgrades are ongoing, property owners are reminded to ensure their culvert is clear of debris and hazards.
The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure requires property owners along BC Highways to be responsible for driveway culvert maintenance. Proactive and regular culvert maintenance protects roads, properties and the environment.
Culvert maintenance involves keeping both the inlet and outlet of the pipe free of debris so that it works properly, including removing snow, fallen trees/brush and ice during cold and storm seasons whenever possible.
