Tofino Housing Corporation and Catalyst Community Developments Society celebrate major development

TOFINO, B.C. – Tofino Housing Corporation’s 14-unit affordable Creekside development nears completion as community members celebrate this significant milestone.

The Creekside development at 700 Sharp Road, will help meet a critical need for affordable rental options for individuals and families who face challenges finding a place to call home on the West Coast. The initial site development began in February 2021 and is on track to welcome tenants by April 1st, 2022.

Creekside is being developed by the Catalyst Community Developments Society and the deadline for applications from interested tenants is January 1st, 2022. Interested tenants should email gro.vedmmoctsylatac@gnitner to obtain application forms and details. There are one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom units available in this pet-friendly development, with some units designed as accessible units. Some of the units will be affordable to those with more modest incomes with rents ranging from approximately $875 for one-bedrooms to $1220 for three-bedrooms. Some of units will rent at rates closer to current market rents and range from approximately $1125 to $1725. Applicants will be screened against income, residency and local-employment criteria established by the District of Tofino and Tofino Housing Corporation, and selected applicants matched to units based on income and household size.

This affordable housing project has been financially supported by the District of Tofino, Tofino Housing Corporation, Catalyst and senior government, and is being constructed by Saywell Contracting Ltd.
