Category 1 Campfire Prohibition: Effective Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 12 PM

The Coastal Fire Centre has announced that Category 1 Campfires will be prohibited as of 12 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025. This is in addition to the existing bans on Category 2 and Category 3 open fires.
This prohibition includes all campfires, as well as the following activities and devices:
- Sky lanterns
 - Wood-fired hot tubs, pizza ovens, and other wood-fired devices (unless vented through a building flue)
 - Binary exploding targets
 - Fireworks
 - Burn barrels or burn cages
 - Air curtain burners
 - Carbonizers
 - Controlled air incinerators
 
What is Allowed
During this time, CSA or ULC-certified outdoor stoves with a flame height of less than 15 centimetres are still permitted. These include:
- Propane campfires
 - Camp stoves using gas or briquettes
 - Gas or briquette barbecues
 - Pizza ovens fueled with gas or briquettes
