This page provides up-to-date information on construction activity, service disruptions, and closures that may impact residents, businesses, and visitors within the District of Tofino.
You can expect to find details on, but not limited to:
- Municipal road and sidewalk work, including the Multi-Use Path
- Traffic delays
- Parking lot closures
- Public washroom closures
- Impacts to trail, park, and beach access
- Facility closures
- Water, sewer, or other municipal service disruptions
Both planned and active work will be listed to support advanced awareness and day-to-day planning.
Power outages are not listed on this page, as BC Hydro communicates current outage information through its outage map. Additionally, day-to-day provincial highway conditions are typically provided by DriveBC. However, prolonged or coordinated Highway 4 construction projects that may affect the community will be included here for awareness.

Current Construction and Service Impacts

The District of Tofino is improving stormwater drainage along Olsen Road to address long-standing flooding impacts in the area.
When: September 8 to mid-October 2026
Impacts:
- Single-lane alternating traffic will be in place along Olsen Road while construction is underway.
- Residents will continue to have access to their properties and driveways throughout the work.
- Pedestrian and cycling access will also remain open, although people travelling through the area should expect temporary delays around active construction zones.
- There will be no street parking on Olsen Road during construction. All vehicles parked on Olsen Road are asked to move their vehicles before construction begins. Any remaining vehicles parked along Olsen Road on September 8, 2026, will be towed to Neill or Third Street
- Traffic impacts are expected on Campbell Street between approximately October 5 and October 15, 2026, while crews complete the stormwater crossing. Single-lane alternating traffic will be required during this work.
