In addition to the District of Tofino’s regular monthly testing of the Voyent Alert! emergency notification system, an additional notification will be issued on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11 AM as part of the District’s High Ground Hike event.

This is a planned test notification and not an emergency. Anyone subscribed to Voyent Alert! will receive the alert at that time. No action is required. Users who receive the alert can simply acknowledge the message.

This additional notification will support the evacuation exercise taking place during the High Ground Hike and help demonstrate how alerts may be received during a real emergency.

Join the High Ground Hike

The public is invited to attend the High Ground Hike on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 10 AM at the Tofino Community Hall.

Participants can take part in a simulated evacuation walk to high ground and enjoy a community learning fair afterwards featuring emergency preparedness information and the Quake Cottage Earthquake Simulator, where participants can experience what a large-scale earthquake can feel like.

Residents and visitors of all ages are encouraged to participate.
