Update: Water Conservation Stage 1

Posted: Jun 26, 2026   |   By: Communications

While recent rainfall has helped support local water supply conditions, Water Conservation Stage 1 remains in effect as Tofino enters its busiest time of year, when community water use increases.

Residents, businesses and visitors are encouraged to continue using water mindfully and follow all current conservation measures. Ongoing conservation will help protect the community’s water supply and reduce the likelihood of more restrictive water conservation stages.

Simple ways to conserve water:

  • Check your property for leaks or drips and repair them promptly
  • Keep showers to four minutes or less
  • Turn off the tap when washing, shaving, or brushing teeth
  • Only run full loads of laundry and dishes

For Businesses

Visitor-facing businesses are required to support conservation efforts by displaying water conservation materials in/at all of the following areas:

  • Accommodation units/rooms
  • Restaurant tables
  • Kitchens
  • Cash Registers
  • Booking Offices
  • Websites

These materials must be displayed and communicated until water conservation stages have been lifted.
