Marriage Licences
Saying, "I Do!"
If you are planning your special day, you will be pleased to know that the District of Tofino can issue marriage licenses at the Municipal Hall during regular office hours. Whether you are a local resident or a visitor to the area, you can easily obtain the necessary documentation to make your wedding day official.
You will need to buy a marriage licence within three months of your wedding date. Only one member of the couple is required to apply for a marriage licence, but they must do so in person and show primary identification for both parties.
Examples of primary identification include:
- Birth certificate
- IMM/immigration form
- Permanent resident card
- Citizenship card
- Passport
A marriage licence costs $100, is valid within British Columbia, and is nonrefundable. However, if you lose your licence, you can return to the Municipal Hall and ask for a replacement.
