Starting Monday, July 29, 2024, at approximately 07:30 AM, grading and paving operations will begin as part of the Mackenzie Beach Road Improvements project. This essential work aims to enhance the infrastructure and accessibility of Mackenzie Beach Road.
Residents should be aware that the work is expected to continue from Monday through Wednesday, during which single-lane alternating traffic will be in effect at the junction of Mackenzie Beach Road and Pacific Rim Highway.
Access to Mackenzie Beach Road will be restricted to single-lane alternating traffic. It is advised that those not staying at an accommodation provider located on Mackenzie Beach Road use Hellesen Drive as an alternative route to access Mackenzie Beach.
The Mackenzie Beach Road Improvements project includes several key components:
- Paving Mackenzie Beach Road from Pacific Rim Highway to Mackenzie Beach Resort
- Extending the Multi-Use Path (MUP) adjacent to the existing road from Pacific Rim Highway to Mackenzie Beach
- Improving public access down to Mackenzie Beach
- Adding parking at the end of Mackenzie Beach Road
- Creating a turn-around lane to ensure continuous traffic flow
- Public washrooms
- Installing bike parking facilities
