The District of Tofino is looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Child Care Worker.

Reporting to the Daycare Supervisor, the Child Care Worker assists in the day-to-day operation of the t̓aatn̓aʔałuk – Taking Care of Children Facility.

Hours of Work

This is a permanent, full-time position based on 40 hours per week, located within the District of Tofino between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Schedules will be discussed and confirmed in advance.

Rate of Pay

The hourly wage is either $27.57 or $29.10*, depending on level of certification (ECEA or ECE). *Hourly wage stated excludes ECE-WE wage top-up.

This position is subject to a probationary period during which time the wage will be either $24.81 or $26.19, depending on the level of certification. The position offers a full range of comprehensive benefits, including a pension plan, and is subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between CUPE Local 118 and the District of Tofino.

The District of Tofino is an eligible participant under the Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement program, and a wage top-up is available to all eligible ECEs directly employed by and working in the eligible Licensed Child Care Facility
