Fire Prevention Week: October 4–10, 2026

Posted: Oct 1, 2026   |   By: Communications

Fire Prevention Week takes place October 4 to 10, 2026, with this year’s focus on safe charging and the everyday actions that can help prevent lithium-ion battery fires.

Lithium-ion batteries are found in many of the devices people use every day, from phones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools. Simple habits, such as using the correct charger, charging devices on hard, flat surfaces and knowing the warning signs of a damaged battery, can help reduce the risk of fire.

Throughout Fire Prevention Week, the District will be sharing practical fire safety tips on Facebook and Instagram. Follow along for simple reminders about safer charging and lithium-ion battery safety.
