First Street Dock is now open to the public, after a temporary closure overnight due to a fuel leak.

In the evening of Thursday, July 6, 2023, a fuel leak was discovered adjacent to the First Street Dock in Tofino Harbour. Tofino Volunteer Fire Department, RCMP, & BC Hydro arrived quickly to close the dock and secure the scene. The owners of the fuel system shut down the fuel system and drained the fuel tank to prevent further leakage. BC Hydro shut off power to the dock. The scene was deemed safe and the First Street Dock was re-opened at 4:00PM today, Friday, July 7, 2023.

The District of Tofino thanks the Tofino Volunteer Fire Department, the RCMP, Tofino Air and first responders who were able to quickly respond and contain the incident.
