Information Session: Water Conservation – May 9, 2024

Posted: Apr 25, 2024   |   By: Communications

Over the past 10 months, District Council and staff have consulted closely with residents, businesses, and engineers to develop new water conservation stages that better suit our community's needs.

Longer, drier and busier summers impact Tofino's water supply, which is collected with gratitude from the old-growth forests protected by the Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks.

Join District staff and representatives from Tourism Tofino and the Tofino-Long Beach Chamber of Commerce to learn about Tofino’s new water conservation stages. This session will introduce the new water conservation bylaw, detailing what activities are permitted and prohibited during each conservation stage to help safeguard Tofino's essential water supply.

Date: Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 4 to 6 PM

Location: Tofino Council Chambers at 121 Third Street

Can't make it in person? Participate via Zoom or stream it live on the District of Tofino's YouTube channel.

*Note: Stage 1 water restrictions will no longer be automatically implemented between May 1 and October 1 each year. Instead, Stage 1 will take effect at the discretion of District staff based on considerations including daily water use, 14-day weather forecast, & visitor occupancy forecast.
