A cold-weather system is on its way, bringing colder temperatures and the potential for snow mixed with rain over the coming days and into next week.

As Tofino prepares for possible winter conditions, here are some important tips to be prepared and stay safe:

Winter Driving

  • Give yourself extra time, slow down, and increase following distance on the roads.
  • Keep an emergency kit in your car with food, water, extra warm clothing, and essential supplies.
  • Check DriveBC before heading out for current road conditions.

At Home & In the Community

  • Ensure you have a shovel, sand, and salt ready for icy conditions.
  • Help prevent pooling water by keeping catch basins clear of snow and debris.
  • Remember to clear sidewalks adjacent to your property to keep pathways safe for pedestrians. (Public Property Use Regulation Bylaw No. 1098)
  • Check-in on neighbours, friends, and family who may need assistance.

Multi-Use Path Reminder
From October through March, snow and ice control is not conducted on the Multi-Use Path. Please use the path at your own risk during winter conditions.
