Notice of Public Hearing: 740 Campbell Street

Posted: Jul 28, 2026   |   By: Communications

The District of Tofino and the Tofino Housing Corporation are exploring a proposed housing development at 740 Campbell Street.

The preliminary concept includes approximately 21 multi-family units on the District-owned property. It also includes a public waterfront park and access to Browning Passage for human-powered watercraft such as kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards.

As part of the development proposal, amendments to both the Official Community Plan and the Zoning Bylaw are required.

The Official Community Plan amendment would change the property’s designation from Peninsula to Future Homes, while the Zoning Bylaw amendment would permit multi-family housing at the site.

Community Input

Council is seeking community input on the proposed amendments.

Community feedback is an important part of the decision-making process. It helps Council understand local perspectives, identify potential benefits and concerns, and consider how the proposal may affect the surrounding neighbourhood and the broader community.

Feedback may address:

  • Housing needs and affordability
  • The proposed density, scale and design
  • Traffic, access and parking
  • Environmental conditions and natural hazards
  • Public waterfront access
  • Potential neighbourhood and community impacts

Public Hearing

Council will hold a combined Public Hearing on the proposed Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw amendments for 740 Campbell Street.

Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 5 PM
Clayoquot Sound Theatre, 380 Campbell Street
