Tsunami Preparedness: Seeing the Science Workshop
How could an earthquake or tsunami impact Tofino?
As part of this year’s expanded Tsunami Preparedness Week initiatives, the District of Tofino is hosting a workshop that brings together academic experts and researchers from around the world to share insights on coastal risk and emergency planning.
This session will present an evacuation model that shows how different earthquake and tsunami scenarios could affect Tofino and the surrounding areas, drawing on lessons learned from global tsunami events and data collected during last year’s High Ground Hike.
Participants will also get the chance to join a panel discussion and pose questions to researchers and experts.
This event is free and open to the public. Drop in and learn more about how science is shaping emergency preparedness in coastal communities.
