The District of Tofino is sharing an update from the Ministry of Transportation and Transit regarding a full closure of Highway 4 at Cameron Lake on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 9 AM to 3 PM.

The Ministry will undertake work to address shoulder and bank erosion in the westbound lane of Highway 4 near the new weather station along Cameron Lake. In preparation for this work, the Ministry requires this full closure to safely bring equipment to the site and establish an access point and work area off the roadway. This setup will allow the remaining work to proceed with minimal impact on the normal flow of traffic.

The Ministry encourages drivers to follow traffic control personnel and signage and to travel with caution to support safety for workers and the public.
