National AccessAbility Week: May 31 – June 6, 2026
Posted: Jun 3, 2026 | By: Communications
This week marks National AccessAbility Week, an opportunity to recognize the contributions of people with disabilities and the work taking place across Canada to remove barriers and build more accessible, inclusive communities.
Accessibility Plan
Earlier this year, the District of Tofino adopted its Accessibility Plan in alignment with the Accessible BC Act. This Plan details how the District will identify, eliminate, and prevent barriers across municipal programs, services, infrastructure, and communications.
Accessibility involves creating spaces and services that enable everyone to participate fully and with dignity. Although progress has been made, the District acknowledges that accessibility is an ongoing commitment.
Report an Accessibility Concern
Community input is vital to the District’s commitment. Residents can report accessibility issues via the District’s website, which provides an easy way to share barriers encountered in public spaces, services, programs, or communications.
This feedback helps the District better understand accessibility challenges and informs future enhancements.
Chat with Staff at the Recreation Expo
District staff will be at the Recreation Expo on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10 AM to 6 PM with more information about the District’s accessibility commitments. Residents are invited to stop by, ask questions, and learn more about this ongoing work.
Residents are encouraged to visit the District's Accessibility page to learn more and report any accessibility concerns they encounter.
Working together, the community can continue building a more inclusive and accessible Tofino for all.
