The District of Tofino wishes to inform residents about the ongoing blasting of the rock bluff at the Wickaninnish Community School field. Blasting will occur intermittently, followed by on-site rock crushing, until the end of August. The blasting & rock crushing will occur between the hours of 08:30 AM and 04:30 PM from Monday to Friday.

Currently, the construction area is fenced off for safety, and the public is asked to respect the construction zone and adhere to all posted signage.

This is a part of the Wickaninnish Community School Sports Fields Upgrades project, which will be substantially completed by October 31, 2024. Upon completion of the project, the sports fields will include two new ball diamonds, which include the widening of the fields, new fencing, and the levelling of the field.

The project is partly funded by revenues collected from pay parking in Tofino.
