While campfires will again be permitted on select beaches and residential properties, they still must adhere to the following District of Tofino regulations.

• A campfire is any fire smaller than 0.6 metres high by 0.6 metres wide, and no larger than 24 inches in diameter.

• Fires must not consume beach materials, garbage, or noxious materials.

• Beach fires are allowed only on Mackenzie and Chesterman Beaches, between 8 AM and 10 PM.

• Fires are not permitted directly on the beach. Only elevated wood and propane fires are allowed.

• Fires must be contained in a Clean Burning or Reduced Smoke Fire Appliance, which is defined as:
  • A device that uses propane or dry firewood
  • Raised off the ground
  • Designed to allow air to be introduced mechanically or through ventilation openings
The District thanks the public for their cooperation in enjoying fires responsibly.
