Mayor's Report
Mayor Law spoke to the recent beautiful weather. He gave an update on a memorandum of understanding signed by key organizations in the community with regards to the ongoing Municipal and Regional District Tax (MRDT) negotiations. Mayor Law specifically spoke about the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, who have been supporters of using the MRDT to service the debt of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. He expressed his gratitude for their support.
Mayor Law also spoke to a meeting with Hasheukumis (Richard George), the hereditary chief of Ahousaht, regarding the illegal resale of alcohol and harm it is creating in the community. They also discussed the prevalence of sexualized abuse stemming from the misuse of alcohol.

Tofino-Clayoquot Heritage Society
Steve Bernard, President, gave a presentation on the Tofino-Clayoquot Heritage Museum. This presentation included visitation trends and 2022 goals as well as details on an upcoming Stubbs Island exhibit and the acquisition of two paintings by the Group of Seven painter, Arthur Lismer. Mr. Bernard outlined the Level 2 museum funding and a multi-year funding strategy.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Project Update
Staff provided a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) project update which included an updated program cost estimate and detailed breakdown, risk and uncertainty, and implementation timeline. Staff included a detailed breakdown of the pre-construction activities and costs as well as a project team dedicated to the implementation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1286, 2022 - Secondary Suites
Staff presented a zoning amendment application related to recent changes made to the BC Building Code for Secondary Suites. This rezoning would seek to take advantage of the relaxations in the BC Building Code to create additional housing units. Council voted not to waive the public hearing for the zoning amendment and authorized staff to schedule a hearing for the coming months.
