Presentation and Reports
Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1320, 2022 - 565 Campbell Street
Council gave first reading to a zoning amendment that would facilitate the development of a 20-unit multi-family housing project at 565 Campbell Street.
Fees and Charges Amendment Bylaw No. 1271.07, 2022 - Water Modelling
Council gave three readings to the amendment bylaw that would set a fee for water modelling services to ensure that costs for reviewing new development proposals are recovered.
Permission to Proceed for Zoning Amendment Housekeeping Bylaw
Council granted staff permission to prepare a bylaw that would clarify certain definitions of the Zoning bylaw and correct oversights made in previous zoning bylaw amendments.
2021 Annual Report Available for Public Inspection
The 2021 Annual Report is available for public consideration. It can be accessed at the Municipal Hall and on the District of Tofino website. Council will consider the 2021 Annual Report at the June 28, 2022 Regular Council meeting.
UBCM Community Excellence Awards joint application with the District of Ucluelet
Council gave approval for staff to continue with an application for the UBCM Community Excellence Awards for Sustainability. The District of Tofino is applying jointly with the District of Ucluelet for being the first two municipalities in British Columbia to adopt single-use plastic cutlery (utensils) regulations along with significant proactive compliance.

Mayor Law met with the Honorable Nathan Cullen, Minister of Municipal Affairs regarding the situation with the Wastewater Treatment Plant funding. He communicated the support from the Ministry on the community’s behalf.

These discussions were very well received. Discussions were excellent and he looks forward to working closely together.

There were over 44 mayors and chairs present for the discussions about local government efforts towards reconciliation across the island.
