The District of Tofino wishes to remind residents that Downtown Pay Parking will be in effect from May 1 to October 31, 2026, from 9 AM to 6 PM daily.
Residents of Tofino, Tla-o-qui-aht, Ahousaht, and Hesquiaht: Receive access to free Downtown Pay Parking with an annual Beach Pay Parking permit. No further steps are required if you are registered for Beach Pay Parking, unless you require a Downtown Resident Permit.
All vehicles must follow posted signage. Parking permits do not exempt vehicles from time-restricted zones or other posted restrictions. Downtown Resident Permit holders may park beyond posted time limits on the street where they reside.
Downtown Tofino Residents: Those wishing to park on their residential street long-term (6+ hours) must purchase & display a Downtown Resident Permit (decal). Decals cost $150 per vehicle and can be purchased at the Municipal Office with proof of address and ID. Up to two permits may be purchased per residential unit.
*Applies generally to residents living on First Street, Second Street, Third Street, Fourth Street, Main Street, Campbell Street, Neill Street, Gibson Street, and sections of Arnet Road where downtown pay parking spaces exist.
Residents of Ucluelet, Port Alberni, and Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District (ACRD): Receive access to Downtown Pay Parking by purchasing an annual Beach Pay Parking permit for $60.
Visitors: There are three ways to pay by the hour: at a physical meter, using the Honk Mobile app, or PayByPhone by calling 1-888-680-7275.
Additional Information
- Parking at the Municipal Office lots is not included in the free residents' permit for Downtown Pay Parking. These lots are designed for long-term parking.
- Downtown has sections with time-restricted parking that offer free parking for 15 minutes to 2 hours, available year-round.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to use alternative modes of transportation, such as biking, walking, and public transit, instead of driving and parking in the downtown core when possible.
