Postal Disruption: Utility Bill & Property Tax Outstanding Balance Notices

Due to the ongoing postal strike, outstanding balance notices for utility bills & property taxes will not be sent via mail.

Outstanding balances will begin accruing interest as of January 1, 2025, at a rate set by the provincial government.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to inquire about outstanding balances by calling the District of Tofino at 250-725-3229 during regular business hours.

Payment Deadlines & Penalties

The District is unable to extend payment deadlines. Late penalties will apply to any balances not paid on time.

To avoid penalties, please use one of the following payment methods:

  • In-Person Payment: Payments can be made at the District of Tofino Municipal Hall during regular office hours. Payments can be made by:
    • Cash
    • Cheque
    • Interac
    • Bank Draft

*Credit card payments are not accepted*

  • 24-Hour Drop-Off Box: Payments in envelopes can be deposited in the secure mail slot at the District of Tofino Municipal Hall entrance.
  • Online Payment: Payments can be made through a financial institution’s website. Payments should be made four (4) days before the due date to ensure processing.
  • Telephone Banking: Payments can also be made through telephone banking services offered by financial institutions.

  • Monday to Friday: 9 AM – 12 PM & 1PM – 4 PM
  • Holiday Closure: The office will be closed from 4 PM on Monday, December 23, 2024, and reopen at 9 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
  • Location: 121 Third Street
